Guest talk by Mr. Selvakuamar Varadharajan

Brief Profile of Speaker:
Mr. Selvakumar Varadharajan completed his Bachelor of Computer Science from Periyar University, Master of Finance and control from Bharathiyar University and he also holds a M Phil degree in Management from Periyar University. He started his career as a faculty of Finance in ICFAI National College, Bangalore and worked closely with students on placement training as a placement coordinator. After that he worked as a
Chief Brand Officer of BSBS academy for which he was one of the founding members. Post that he empowered the budding managers by taking them closer to the industry as head of mentoring and placements in D.J. Academy for Managerial Excellence. Presently he is the Founder and Chief executive Layman of Laymen Agro Ventures Pvt. Ltd. Laymen Agro Ventures Private Limited is aimed at aggregating and accelerating rural income in India. Bringing the goodness of the farmers directly to the urban consumers by engaging rural youth. Main benefactor being the farmers, this is a golden opportunity not only for them to earn what they deserve, but also to the majority of the unemployed/under-employed youth of the rural population to empower themselves financially.

Abstract/Snapshot
The Session was full on understanding the Value Proposition for a Multi-Faced Business. The session started with the need of Indian System Education and how women participation in Industrial process can bring subtle change in Indian market to become a Super Power in 2030. The speaker elaborated how did he identify the scarcity of Quality Food-Milk in urban sector and Less Cash in the hand of Rural Farmers. He explained the present business model and future projection. Students’ QA session was eye opening regarding Price Strategy, Brand Positioning and Competition Handling.


Flow of the event
The session started with a brief introduction and welcoming of the guest speaker. Then further Prof. Surya Narayan gave the brief introduction about the guest Mr. SelvaKumar Varadharajan. The guest started their talk by giving the information about the entrepreneurship. He created the importance of entrepreneurship in students mind as an India’s position in the start-up world. He discussed very important topic that how India dominated the global GDP till 18 th century contributed around 29% of whole globe. He gave the best-case study of how to identify the problem go deep into it and find a sustainable solution and create a good start-up by giving the example of redbus founder Phanindra Sama. In detail he explained about his own start-up vilfresh and how he connected three important groups Farmers, customers, rural youth and solved the biggest problem of fresh and quality agrobased products for the tier 1 and 2 cities. After that Q and A’s session happened with the students and the event conclude with the vote of thanks by one of our students.
