While accepting the award, Dr. Kola reflected on her journey. Rather than focusing on statistics or challenges, she spoke about the importance of optimism, self-belief, and the support systems that enable individuals to pursue their aspirations.
She shared that one of the most valuable lessons from her life has been learning to focus on possibilities rather than limitations. Many of the barriers people face are often the ones they create in their own minds. By looking inward and concentrating on what can be achieved, individuals can unlock their true potential.
Dr. Kola also acknowledged the profound influence of her family, whose encouragement allowed her to pursue opportunities that were uncommon for women of her generation. From pursuing engineering studies to travelling abroad for higher education, she credited her parents and loved ones for believing in her ambitions.

It gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities that seemed uncertain and ambitious.
