National Technology Day

Why do we observe National Technology Day?
To commemorate the successful nuclear tests in Pokhran, the day is observed. In May 1998, India conducted Pokhran-II experiments in the Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan, which involved five nuclear explosions. Every year, on May 11, National Technology Day is marked to commemorate the anniversary of the Pokhran-II tests.

On this day, TDB presents National Awards to the year’s most deserving people, organisations, and companies.
The Ministry of Earth Sciences, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Biotechnology, as well as several other scientific departments are taking part in this event.
 The President of India honors the individuals for their contributions in order to encourage further academic excellence.
 The ministry of science and technology also plans several occasions all around India.
 The entire event should be planned, down to the decorations, in accordance with the theme.
 Several institutions host script, speech, and essay competitions.
 Articles with a theme are also promoted, etc.

CONCLUSION –
Therefore, it is important to stimulate students’ interest in and knowledge of science and technology. Without a doubt, National Technology Day is a fantastic method to inspire the nation’s youth to get involved and is also a means to thank the scientists and researchers who have contributed to India’s developing technology.
