Aviation Students Soar with Real-World Experience at TAAL Industrial Visit

Belagondapalli, Tamil Nadu – On January 10th, 2023, 24 eager 1st and 3rd-semester aviation students, accompanied by three faculty members, embarked on an insightful industrial visit to Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Limited (TAAL). The full-day visit, running from 09:30 to 17:00 hours, provided an invaluable opportunity for hands-on learning and subject training by industry experts.

The visit aimed to familiarize students with various crucial aspects of the aviation industry. Key objectives included:

  • Airport Familiarization
  • Exploring Aircraft Hangers
  • Understanding Air Communication & Navigation (ATC)
  • Learning about Ground Handling Operation and Ground Support Equipment, with a highlight on Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Vehicles
  • Gaining detailed descriptions of aircraft parts and types
  • Visiting the Fuel Farm (Indian Oil Corporation)

The industrial visit yielded significant outcomes, directly correlating with the Bangalore University syllabus for 1st and 3rd Semester aviation students. Students were able to physically observe and understand the usage of ground support equipment and ground handling operations, concepts previously referred to in Unit 5 of their syllabus. A more detailed description on Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Vehicle was also provided.

Furthermore, students had the unique opportunity to visit the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Hanger at TAAL. Here, they witnessed various aircraft like A320, B737, P68C a six seat twin piston engine aircraft, and Charter Navel B737 NG Military Aircraft. They also learned about Civil aircraft inspections like C check-stock engine/change painting (for Leased aircraft). Insights into Airport operations Air field components, VLS navigations, charter services / private jet services were also shared. The visit also covered 5 main parts of the Aircraft function of the flight, Structure, Modification, Classification of wing structure so on.

A particular highlight for the students was the opportunity to visit the ATC Tower in 2 batches, where they even witnessed a live Take off & Landing of the aircraft. This provided them with a foundational understanding of the basics of the ATC operation.

This industrial visit to TAAL provided an exceptional bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enriching the learning experience for all participating aviation students.
