Unleash Your Talent: ISBR’s Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorable Online Contest 2020

In celebration of knowledge, innovation, and the spirit of curiosity, the ISBR Group of Institutions (managed by Bangalore Educational Trust®) and ISBR Digital Academy proudly presented the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorable Online Contest 2020. This initiative aimed to encourage and reward young students for their passion, innovative thinking, and to enrich their academic journeys.

This unique online contest was completely free to enter and open to students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th standards across various schools.

Explore Diverse Events & Themes

Participants had the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a range of exciting online events:

  • Online Essay Competition
  • Public Speaking
  • Drawing & Painting
  • Quiz Competition

Students could choose to participate in any one of these events. Each event was designed to explore various talents and align with contemporary global themes, including:

  • Technology-Driven Education
  • Environmental Safety Measures
  • Challenges… Face it
  • Be brave…. This too will pass

Prizes & Recognition

ISBR believes in fostering young talent, and the contest offered attractive prizes to recognize outstanding performance:

  • I Prize: Rs 10,000
  • II Prize: Rs 3,000
  • III Prize: Medals in each event
  • Participation Certificate for all participants!

This was a unique opportunity for students to have their work appreciated by ISBR Digital Academy’s panel of experts, enhance their writing skills, improve public speaking, showcase art, and explore their hidden talents.

Key Dates & Rules

To ensure fair play and smooth execution, specific rules and deadlines were in place:

Important Dates:

  • Last day for registrations: July 15, 2020
  • Entries submission (for all events): On or before July 20, 2020
  • Results Announcement: August 5, 2020

General Rules:

  • One student could participate in only one event.
  • Proof of identification was required during registration.
  • The decision of the ISBR Panel was final and binding; no queries regarding this would be entertained.
  • Plagiarism was strictly prohibited in the Essay Contest.

Event-Specific Procedures:

  • Online Essay Competition:
    • Submissions in English only.
    • Maximum 3000 words (including footnotes).
    • Typed on A4 size electronic page.
    • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all four sides.
    • Font: Times New Roman, 12 points.
    • Line spacing: 1.5.
  • Drawing & Painting Contest:
    • Maximum size: 50cm x 50cm.
    • Any 2D art materials could be used (pencil, color pencil, fine liner, felt tip pen, paints).
    • Designs had to be original.
    • Images could be sent via email first, with hard copies by courier.
  • Public Speaking Contest:
    • Three-tier contest (depending on participants).
    • Contestants addressed a given topic online before a panel.
    • English language only.
    • Participants had to be dressed in business attire.
    • Minimum duration: 5 minutes, Maximum: 7 minutes (as per ‘Online Contest Rules & Regulations.pdf’).
    • Body language and gestures were an added advantage.
  • Quiz Competition:
    • Three-tier contest.
    • Each participant was asked ten questions.
    • 30 seconds to answer each question. If unable to answer correctly, the question was passed to subsequent members who got 15 seconds.
    • The judge’s decision was final and binding.
