Navigating the Future: AI’s Impact on Accounting & Finance at ISBR

On Saturday, January 18, 2025, ISBR College participated in an insightful seminar titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and the Evolving Role of Future Accountants.”. Held at St. Joseph College of Commerce, this event aimed to prepare students for the transformative changes sweeping through the accounting and finance sectors. Objectives of the Seminar

The seminar was meticulously designed with several key objectives:

  • To explore the transformative impact of technology on the accounting and finance sectors.
  • To identify the skills and competencies required for future accountants to adapt and thrive in a technology-driven environment.

Key Insights from the Session

The main focus of the seminar was to illustrate how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fundamentally reshaping the accounting profession. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sathyakumar. N, Advocate (Supreme Court/High Court), emphasised the critical importance of technological ethics, stating that technology serves as an enabler and every student needs to understand its ethical implications.

The discussions also highlighted the role of blockchain in accounting and the critical intervention of technology in the work of accountants.

Outcomes and Impact

The seminar proved to be highly beneficial, helping students grasp that advanced AI tools offer real-time insights, predictive analytics, and robust risk assessments. This enables accountants to shift their focus from routine tasks to strategic decision-making.
