Titan Watches Hosur plant showcasing analog watch assembly line and experiential learning for management students

ISBR’s Industry Visit to Titan Watches at Bangalore

Industry visits to Titan Watches offered ISBR students a rare opportunity to witness precision engineering and large-scale manufacturing in action. As part of ISBR’s industry–academia connect, students explored how analog watch manufacturing in India continues to thrive amid the rise of smart wearables—delivering experiential learning in management education at its finest.

Students from ISBR Business School had the privilege of visiting the Analog Watch Division of Titan Watches. This flagship facility—often called the mother plant—stands as a benchmark for manufacturing excellence in India.

In an era dominated by digital and smart watches, the visit showcased the resurgence of analog watches as fashion accessories, underpinned by craftsmanship, precision, and heritage.

Inside Analog Watch Manufacturing in India

Precision Engineering at the Micron Level

Senior Titan officials had briefed the meticulous process of creating components so small they are nearly invisible to the naked eye. Students observed how these micro-parts are assembled with near-perfect accuracy—ensuring timekeeping to the nearest second and making the system virtually fail-proof.

From Components to Craftsmanship

Hands-on exposure helped students connect management theory with shop-floor realities, offering insights into quality control, lean operations, and operational excellence—key pillars of experiential learning in management education.

Titan’s Legacy: Disrupting India’s Watch Market

Established in 1984 by the Tata Group in collaboration with TIDCO, the Hosur plant transformed the Indian watch industry. Titan redefined watches from mere timekeepers into lifestyle and fashion statements.

By successfully overtaking the erstwhile public-sector leader HMT, Titan today dominates the Indian market—an enduring case study in strategic innovation, branding, and operational scale.

Real World. Real Learning.

“highly informative, offering practical understanding of industrial operations and management practices at one of India’s leading manufacturing facilities.” – Mr. Naman, PGDM 2025-27

The industry visit to Titan Watches was more than a plant tour—it was a masterclass in precision, legacy, and innovation. For ISBR students, it reaffirmed how structured industry exposure enriches learning outcomes and prepares future managers for real-world challenges.

This initiative enhances practical exposure to real-world manufacturing operations while building a strong understanding of process excellence and quality management. It strengthens industry readiness by developing a managerial perspective aligned with operational realities. Overall, it reinforces experiential learning as a core component of management education.
