Enhancing Knowledge Retention in Corporate Training: FPM Scholar Deepti Mulgaonkar’s Pre-Synopsis Milestone

ISBR Business School proudly announces the successful Pre-Synopsis Submission and Presentation of Ms. Deepti Mulgaonkar ( FPM 2021 ) an accomplished Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) scholar. The event took place on April 19, 2025, at the ISBR Business School, marking a pivotal milestone in her doctoral journey.

Ms. Mulgaonkar’s research, titled “A Study of the Factors Affecting the Forgetting Curve in Learners and Proposing Methods to Enhance Knowledge Retention Post Training and Minimize the Effect of Forgetting Curve in the IT and ITES Sector in the Mumbai Region,” addresses a critical challenge in corporate learning and development—knowledge retention in fast-paced, knowledge-intensive industries.

Her study delves into the cognitive science of memory retention, specifically analyzing the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve within the IT and ITES sectors of Mumbai. By examining how and why knowledge fades after training sessions, she aims to propose practical, data-driven interventions to enhance post-training learning outcomes and drive long-term employee performance.

The presentation was made under the expert guidance of Dr. M.R. Jhansi Rani, with critical insights offered by the Research Advisory Committee (RAC). The committee included Dr. Poornima Vijaykumar (external expert from St. Joseph College of Commerce), Dr. Anand Shankar Raja M (Assistant Professor & Research Manager, ISBR Business School), and Dr. Shabista Booshan (Assistant Professor, ISBR Business School).

This research comes at a time when organizations are increasingly prioritizing learning effectiveness, employee upskilling, and retention strategies to stay competitive. Ms. Mulgaonkar’s findings are expected to contribute to corporate training design, especially in sectors where knowledge refresh cycles are short and demand for performance consistency is high.
