Engaging Endeavours: Law Activities in 2018 at ISBR Law College

The year 2018 was bustling with diverse activities at ISBR Law College, providing students with practical exposure, skill development, and cultural enrichment.

August Highlights:

  • Akshaya Patra Visit (August 3, 2018): Students visited The Akshaya Patra Foundation in Bangalore to study their operations and technology. They learned about the organization’s logistics, safety measures, and meal preparation processes, and many expressed interest in volunteering.
  • ISKCON Temple Visit (August 3, 2018): Students also visited the ISKCON Temple in Bangalore, where a team from the Human Resources department briefed them on the temple trust’s various activities.
  • CtrlS Data Centre Visit (August 8, 2018): ISBR Law College students visited the CtrlS Data Centre in Bangalore to learn about operations and technology in data management. The technical department briefed them on cyber-attack prevention, data security measures, and the 4-Tier Security system. The visit highlighted the importance of high-speed data transfer and security.
  • Seminar by eSTORES! on E-Commerce Entrepreneurial India (August 13, 2018): Students attended a guest lecture by Ms. Neha from eSTORES! on “E-Commerce Entrepreneurial India,” which included a live demo of website creation. The interactive session covered basic e-commerce concepts.
  • Rangoli Competition (August 14, 2018): As part of Independence Day celebrations, ISBR Law College held a Rangoli Competition. Students participated enthusiastically, creating colorful designs addressing social issues, logos, and peacocks.
  • Independence Day Celebration (August 15, 2018): ISBR Law Campus celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony led by retired Indian Army Officer Capt. Rajan V.K. The event featured patriotic songs, speeches, and dances by students, fostering a strong sense of patriotism.
  • Forest Day (Van Mahotsav) (August 20, 2018): The ISBR Law Campus celebrated Van Mahotsav, a yearly tree-planting festival. The Principal, faculty, staff, and students participated, raising awareness about the importance of forests. The day concluded with student video presentations and successful plantation activities.
  • Workshop by Angel Broking Pvt. Ltd. (August 21, 2018): ISBR Law College, in association with Angel Broking, organized a workshop on “Financial planning and various investment opportunities in the Indian stock market.” Mr. Saraju Kumar Pattanayak and Mr. Sibi from Angel Broking delivered a live demo and presentation.
  • Sports Activity (August 23, 2018): A Volleyball Tournament was conducted at ISBR Law College for I & II year BBA-LL.B and LL.B students.
  • Internship by Lawyerhomes (August 24, 2018): I & II Year BBA-LL.B students attended an internship program by Mr. Manish Singh and his team from “Lawyerhomes,” an online platform connecting lawyers and clients. They discussed real case proceedings and client management.
  • Workshop by Syngene International Ltd. (August 24, 2018): Students attended a workshop by Mr. Vijay J, Associate Manager, Corporate Communications, Syngene International Ltd., Bangalore, on “Industry expectation to get hired”.
  • Seminar on Indian Constitution and Environmental Protection (August 25, 2018): Students attended a seminar on “The Indian Constitution and Environmental Protection,” led by Prof. Lokesh Reddy and environmentalist Mr. Anand.

September Highlights:

  • Fresher’s Day (September 1, 2018): I & II Year Law students celebrated Fresher’s Day. The event included a welcome address, a presidential address by the Principal, and well wishes from Dr. Anandaram, Senior Director of ISBR.
  • Teachers’ Day Celebration (September 5, 2018): ISBR Law College celebrated Teachers’ Day with enthusiasm, organised by students across all semesters. The program featured performances by faculty and students, speeches, and a cake-cutting ceremony.
  • Inauguration LL.B 2018 (September 8, 2018): A grand inauguration event for the LL.B 2018 Program took place, featuring an invocation song, a welcome speech by the Principal, lamp lighting, and the academic calendar release by MD Mr. Manish Kothari. Students Rakha and Supriya received the best student’s achievement award. The event was graced by the chief guests Mr. Prasad Subbanna and Mr. N.S. Satyanarayan Gupta, Senior Advocate, Bangalore, was widely covered on social media.
  • Law Firm Visit (September 12, 2018): Students visited the Law Firm of Mr. Dinesh Gaonkar & Associates and Adv. Sheethala D Nayak, where they discussed real case proceedings, client management, and legal drafting.
  • Court Visit (September 14, 2018): BBA-LL.B and LL.B students visited the District and Session Court in Bangalore to gain practical knowledge of court proceedings.
  • Asian Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2018 (Envisage Global) (September 18, 2018): Mr. Varun Kumar from Envisage Global introduced the Asian Entrepreneurship Bootcamp 2018, a 3-day program in Singapore aimed at helping youth with problem-solving, business model development, and networking.
  • Soft Skills in Law Workshop (September 19, 2018): Students attended a one-day workshop on ‘Soft Skills’ led by Mr. Prasad Subbanna, Advocate, Mediator, and Master Trainer.
  • Guest Lecture for Economics (September 21, 2018): First-year BBA-LL.B students attended a guest lecture on Managerial Economics by Dr. Gurudas Bandhyopadhya, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus.
  • Ethnic Day Celebrations (September 25, 2018): ISBR Law College celebrated Ethnic Day to promote cultural diversity and heritage. Students, dressed in traditional attire, participated in speeches and dances, highlighting their culture and folklore.

October Highlights:

  • Training Program for Digital Marketing & Entrepreneurship (October 12, 13, 14, 2018): ISBR Law College collaborated with Ms. Neha Saraogi, CEO of Estores company, to offer a three-day training program on digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and personality development. Students received mementoes for innovative business ideas.
  • ‘C’–Talk Series (October 31, 2018): ISBR Law College organised the ‘C’–Talk series with Mr. R. Venkatesh, GM & Director, Moog Controls India Pvt Ltd. This initiative aims to bridge the industry-academia skills gap and foster young talent.
