Beyond the Books: A Glimpse into ISBR Law College’s Dynamic BBA-LLB Activities

Bengaluru, India – ISBR Law College, affiliated with Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) and approved by BCI, offers a prestigious five-year integrated BBA-LLB program designed to produce industry-ready legal professionals. Beyond rigorous academics, the college emphasizes a holistic approach to education through a diverse range of activities. Here are some highlights of the events conducted for the BBA-LLB program between August and December 2017:

Fostering Patriotism and Awareness

  • Independence Day Celebration (August 15, 2017): ISBR Law College commemorated India’s 71st Independence Day with a heartfelt ceremony in the college campus. The program began with “Vande Mataram” and included flag hoisting by Campus Facility Manager Captain Mr. Rajan, followed by the National Anthem, a pledge, and speeches by Principal Prof. Tapan Nayak and English Department faculty Ms. Savitha, instilling patriotic feelings among students and faculties alike.

Educational Expeditions

  • Educational Trip (August 23, 2017): Students from ISBR Law College embarked on an educational trip to prominent Bangalore attractions, including the Birla Planetarium and the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. The museum, with its interactive exhibits and live demonstrations, fascinated students by explaining major technological inventions. They particularly enjoyed the “Star Show” at the Planetarium. The trip also included visits to the High Court of Karnataka, Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park, and ISKCON Temple.

Cultivating Skills and Knowledge

  • Technical & Business Quiz (August 30, 2017): The Technical club of ISBR Law College organized a stimulating quiz on Technical and Business topics. Students, divided into four teams (A, B, C, D), competed through five rounds: general, personality, logo, slogan, and rapid fire. Team C emerged victorious, showcasing remarkable team spirit and enthusiasm, and students expressed interest in more such activities.
  • Workshop on Recent Trends in Supreme Court Judgments (October 14, 2017): A workshop was conducted by Mr. Vijaykumar M. Ravoor, Senior Advocate from the Karnataka High Court. He highlighted significant Supreme Court judgments, including the Privacy ruling and its impact on millions of Indians.
  • Campus Training Program by Prof. M Shiva Kumar (September 20, 2017): ISBR hosted a training program for UG students led by Prof. M Shiva Kumar, CEO of ‘EMERGE’. The program aimed to enhance students’ public speaking and communication skills.
  • Seminar on “Become a Successful Sales Consultant” (September 8, 2017): B-More Consulting, Mumbai, delivered a seminar featuring Prof. Ram Mohan Memon, an IIM Graduate, who shared insights into sales and marketing, emphasizing international quality skills and concepts.

Community Engagement and Social Responsibility

  • UMEED RUN10K (September 3, 2017): ISBR Law College partnered with Rajasthan Cosmo Foundation Trust to organize UMEED RUN10K at Kanteerava Stadium. Around 3000 participants joined this social cause to donate school uniforms to needy children across Karnataka.
  • International Day of Democracy (September 15, 2017): ISBR students celebrated International Day of Democracy, focusing on strengthening democratic institutions for peace and stability. They highlighted the importance of effective and inclusive democratic governance, human rights, rule of law, and conflict prevention mechanisms.
  • Formation of Anti-Ragging Committee (September 21, 2017): A meeting was organized with Mr. Kumar, Sub-Inspector, Electronic City police station, to form an Anti-Ragging Committee as per Supreme Court orders. Discussions included preventing ragging within the campus and hostel, and a campus security check was conducted.
  • Santa Claus Christmas Event (December 22, 2017): ISBR College hosted a Christmas festival for the community, inviting school kids from Sishya Higher Secondary School, Hosur. The event featured performances, readings, and music, with an ISBR student dressed as Santa Claus distributing chocolates.

Career Development and Industry Exposure

  • Internship Program by HiRePro Consulting Pvt. Ltd. (September 4, 2017): ISBR organized an internship program for law students, with Ms. Haleema Sabeen conducting face-to-face and Skype interviews. Approximately 15 students were selected for a part-time training program for Infosys.
  • Internship Program by A&S Consultant Pvt. Ltd. (September 6, 2017): Mr. Nihar P, Co-Founder of A&S Consultant, visited the campus and offered a part-time training program for students with their client Springwel Mattress. He also provided insights into industrial relations and marketing challenges for young entrepreneurs.
  • Industrial Visit to Mist Minds Technologies (September 26, 2017): BBA I & II year students and faculty visited Mist Minds Technologies Pvt Ltd. They learned about the “Pakka Local” hyper-local mobile app, designed to connect local people with nearby happenings and enable users to chat with merchants. Discussions also covered product conceptualization, marketing strategy, and overall business growth.

Celebrations and Recreational Activities

  • Fresher’s Day (August 31, 2017): The first-year BBA-LLB students celebrated Fresher’s Day with performances, including dance, songs, skits, and a fashion show. Directors and the Principal encouraged students to enhance their skills and focus on their studies. Mr. Shreevadan and Miss. Aparna were crowned Mr. and Miss. Fresher 2017, respectively.
  • Teacher’s Day Celebration (September 5, 2017): ISBR Law College celebrated Teacher’s Day with enthusiasm, organized by students across all semesters. The program included performances by faculty, speeches by the Principal and faculty, songs by students, and fun activities, making it an enjoyable and educational day.
  • Founder’s Day @ ISBR (September 7, 2017): ISBR celebrates Founder’s Day annually to honor Chairman Mr. Prakash Kothari’s birthday. The APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Award 2017 was presented to prominent teachers and personalities for their significant contributions.
  • Trip to Wonderla Amusement Park (October 13, 2017): ISBR LLB students enjoyed a refreshing trip to Wonderla Amusement Park, experiencing high-thrill rides like Wonderla Babma, Drop Zone, Mixer, Maverick, Y-Scream, and Hurricane, as well as the unique Dungeon Ride.
  • Presentation of Tourism Day (September 25, 2017): ISBR Law College organized a presentation on Tourism Day, highlighting attractions in North-East and Southern India. A first-year student, Arpita, discussed intellectual property of local products.
