A Glimpse into Precision: ISBR Students Visit Titan Company Ltd.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, students from ISBR College’s BBA Aviation Management program embarked on an enriching Industrial Visit to Titan Company Ltd. in Hosur. Organised by Mr. Mahesh S, HOD of the Aviation Management Department, this visit aimed to familiarise students with the practical aspects of large-scale manufacturing and the operations of a globally acclaimed company.

Objectives of the Visit

The industrial visit was designed with clear objectives:

  • To familiarise students with the extensive operations of Titan Company Ltd.
  • To provide practical exposure to the manufacturing processes of wristwatches under the esteemed Titan brand.

This exposure was deemed highly beneficial for the budding Management students, especially given Titan’s global recognition in watch manufacturing. It was also anticipated that students would gain insights into the factory environment, employee interactions, and the company’s infrastructure.

Insights from the Factory Floor

Upon arrival at the Titan Wrist Watch Manufacturing Unit in Hosur, students and accompanying faculty (Mr. Mahesh S and Mrs. Rekha Srijit) were warmly received by Mr. Francis Xavier Palakapillil, Head of Security and Administration. The visit provided a rare opportunity to observe various departments of the manufacturing unit.

Students learned that each wristwatch comprises a minimum of 83 components, including batteries, glass covers, and other sophisticated elements, all contributing to a high-quality finished product. Strict guidelines were in place regarding photography and videography within the manufacturing unit, though permitted elsewhere on the premises.

Outcomes and Future Impact

The Industrial Visit concluded around 4:30 PM, leaving the students highly motivated and appreciative of ISBR College for arranging such a valuable experience. The exposure gained is expected to be imperative for their future prospects and bright careers.

Specifically, the visit helped students:

  • Understand the intricacies of the watch-making sector and its contribution to the country’s economic upliftment.
  • Gain insight into the operations of a leading indigenous manufacturing unit like Titan, which propels the nation towards self-dependence.

This hands-on experience provided invaluable practical knowledge, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world industrial operations.
