ISBR Business School is proud to spotlight a remarkable academic milestone achieved by Mrs. Deepti Mulgaonkar (Reg. No.: FPM07–2021), a research scholar from the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) 2021 Batch. Under the academic supervision of Dr. M. R. Jhansi Rani, Professor & Director – Research Centre, Mrs. Mulgaonkar has successfully completed her doctoral thesis submission and public viva-voce defense, reflecting ISBR’s steadfast commitment to research excellence and academic leadership.
Thesis Title:
A Study of the Factors Affecting the Forgetting Curve in Learners and Proposing Methods to Enhance Knowledge Retention Post Training in the IT and ITES Sector – Mumbai Region
Research Overview and Impact:
Mrs. Mulgaonkar’s research addresses a critical challenge in organizational learning and development: the cognitive phenomenon of the forgetting curve—the decline of knowledge retention following training interventions.
Focusing on the dynamic and knowledge-intensive IT and ITES industry in the Mumbai region, her thesis identifies key psychological, pedagogical, and organizational variables influencing post-training knowledge decay. More importantly, it proposes evidence-based strategies to bolster retention, sustain learning outcomes, and optimize training return on investment (ROI).
This pioneering work is positioned at the intersection of learning science, human resource development, and corporate training design, offering actionable solutions for L&D professionals, training architects, and HR strategists seeking to enhance workforce productivity and learning sustainability.

Contribution to Research and Practice:
Her empirical framework introduces a multi-dimensional approach to retention enhancement, blending cognitive reinforcement techniques with adaptive training methodologies. The outcomes are expected to inform policy, practice, and pedagogy across corporate learning ecosystems.
This thesis not only enriches academic discourse on memory science and workplace learning but also contributes to the emerging body of transformative research in management education and performance analytics.
Honoring a Remarkable Academic Milestone
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Deepti Mulgaonkar on this exceptional achievement. Her scholarly pursuit serves as an inspiration to the research community and underscores the transformative power of knowledge creation in advancing professional and societal progress.
