In today’s rapidly evolving academic landscape, Empowering Research with AI has become a vital catalyst for innovation. From literature review to advanced analytics, artificial intelligence is redefining how scholars conceptualize, analyze, and communicate research. Recognizing this transformation, ISBR Business School, Bangalore, in collaboration with its ISBR Research Centre and ISBR Centre for Executive Education, hosted a Five-Day Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Empowering Research with AI: From Literature Review to Advanced Analytics”.
The FDP focused on equipping researchers, academicians, and professionals with the tools and ethical frameworks required to responsibly integrate AI throughout the research lifecycle.
The program reflected ISBR’s commitment to building a future-ready research ecosystem where academic rigor meets technological innovation. Participants included PhD and FPM scholars, academicians, and industry professionals eager to elevate their research quality using AI.
Day 1: AI for Literature Review and Knowledge Discovery
Session Expert: Prof. Leonard Diogene, Manager – Centre for AI & Assistant Professor
The opening session on AI for Basic Research and In-depth Literature Review introduced participants to the transformative power of AI in academic research.
Prof. Leonard demonstrated AI-driven tools such as ChatGPT, Elicit, Scite, Connected Papers, and Paper Digest, showing how they streamline literature searches, summarize findings, and manage references efficiently.
He emphasized the ethical integration of AI, highlighting academic integrity and originality. Live demonstrations helped participants learn prompt design, research gap identification, and responsible AI usage.

Day 2: Using AI to Build Research Frameworks
Session Expert: Prof. Leonard Diogene, Manager – Centre for AI & Assistant Professor
The second session, AI to Formulate Thrust Areas and Research Frameworks, deepened participants’ understanding of how AI tools assist in identifying research trends and building conceptual models.
Through bibliometric analysis and NLP-powered platforms like Scispace and Consensus, participants learned to identify gaps and align research problems with emerging trends.
Prof. Leonard demonstrated AI’s role in crafting titles, hypotheses, and conceptual frameworks using models such as Resource-Based View (RBV) and Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB)—cementing AI’s place as a vital tool for research design.

Day 3: Research Design, Data Collection, and AI Integration
Session Expert: Dr. Naveen Pol, HOD – Analytics & Associate Professor
Dr. Naveen highlighted how AI can automate survey design, support sampling strategies (random, stratified, snowball), and ensure data validity.
Using integrations with Google Forms and Qualtrics, participants learned to enhance efficiency while maintaining rigor. Real-world examples illustrated how AI copilots can clean, classify, and interpret datasets for empirical research—bridging data and decision-making.

Day 4: AI for Descriptive and Qualitative Analysis
Session Expert: Dr. Naveen Pol, HOD – Analytics & Associate Professor
The fourth day focused on Descriptive, Exploratory & Qualitative Analysis Using AI, revealing how AI in research analytics amplifies both quantitative and qualitative insights.
Through hands-on sessions using Python, R, and AI dashboards, participants explored EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis), trend mapping, and correlation visualization.
Dr. Naveen further introduced AI-driven qualitative tools for transcription, coding, and topic modeling, demonstrating how automation enhances efficiency without compromising analytical depth.
This session underscored AI’s dual strength: precision in quantitative analysis and richness in qualitative interpretation.

Day 5: Inferential Analysis, Machine Learning, and AI
Session Expert: Dr. Naveen Pol, HOD – Analytics & Associate Professor
Dr. Naveen illustrated how inferential statistics—t-tests, ANOVA, regression, and chi-square—can be executed via AI platforms with speed and accuracy.
Participants explored Structural Equation Modeling (SEM/PLS-SEM), pilot testing, and reliability checks enhanced by AI copilots. The highlight was Machine Learning for Academic Research, where techniques like clustering, classification, and predictive modeling were contextualized for management and social science research.
This finale empowered scholars to transform data into actionable insights through AI-powered predictive analytics.

Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of the five-day FDP, participants had mastered how to:
- Integrate AI across the research lifecycle—from literature review to publication.
- Apply AI tools for descriptive, inferential, and machine learning analyses.
- Uphold ethics, originality, and academic integrity while using AI.
- Bridge academic inquiry with real-world problem solving through responsible innovation.
