Quality Education in the AI Era: Why Degrees Alone Are No Longer Enough

ISBR President Dr. Manish Kothari Calls for a New Paradigm in Building a Future-Ready Workforce at FKCCI Global CSR & Sustainability Summit 2026

Introduction

The future of higher education is no longer defined by how much students know. It is increasingly defined by what they can do with that knowledge.

This powerful message resonated throughout Session III – ‘Quality Education: Future Skills & Job-Ready Workforce’ at the FKCCI Global CSR & Sustainability Summit 2026 in Bengaluru. The panel brought together leaders from academia, industry and the CSR ecosystem to deliberate on how India can transform education into employability in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

Moving Beyond Degrees to Capabilities

Dr. Manish Kothari challenged the traditional perception of management education, stating that the issue is not whether the two-year MBA is relevant, but whether institutions are still delivering programmes designed for yesterday’s economy. In an era where knowledge is universally accessible, competitive advantage lies in problem-solving, critical thinking, adaptability and the ability to create value.

He emphasised: “We must stop preparing students for their first job. We must start preparing them for their next forty years.”

The L.E.A.D. Framework

Dr. Kothari introduced ISBR’s L.E.A.D. Framework:
• Learn continuously
• Experience business through immersive industry engagement
• Apply knowledge to solve real organisational challenges
• Design value by innovating, leading and creating enterprises.

The framework shifts education from lecture-centric delivery to competency and impact-driven learning.

Redefining Employability

He observed that employers increasingly recruit demonstrated capability rather than academic credentials alone. Competencies, communication, ethical judgement and responsible AI usage have become the defining characteristics of future-ready graduates.

“Degrees may open doors, but competencies keep those doors open.”

Three ISBR Innovations

1. Career Architecture Model – personalised career pathways aligned with each student’s aspirations.

2. Outcome-Based Career Ecosystem – measuring success beyond placements to include entrepreneurship, higher education, family business transformation and long-term career growth.

3. AI Co-Pilot Learning Model – embedding AI across the curriculum as a thinking and productivity partner while strengthening human capabilities such as creativity, leadership and judgement.

Academia–Industry Collaboration

Dr. Kothari advocated moving from partnership to shared ownership of talent development. He proposed that students graduate with a ‘Portfolio of Proof’ demonstrating live projects, business impact and measurable contributions, rather than relying solely on transcripts.

Conclusion

The session reaffirmed ISBR Business School’s commitment to shaping future-ready leaders through innovation, industry integration, entrepreneurship and AI-enabled education.

The session concluded with a powerful message:

“Education should not merely certify that a student has studied. It should demonstrate that a student has already created value.”
