At ISBR Business School, inclusivity isn\u2019t just a value\u2014it\u2019s a commitment. We firmly believe in creating a world where everyone, regardless of ability, can navigate public spaces with ease and dignity. In pursuit of this vision, we are proud to collaborate with Inclusiv and the Association of People with Disability (APD) on the \u2018Yes to Access\u2019 campaign, an initiative dedicated to identifying and addressing accessibility barriers in public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Driving Change Through Accessibility Audits<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Taking a proactive approach, ISBR has taken the lead in conducting accessibility audits across Electronic City, Bengaluru\u2014including our very own campus. These audits assess the ease of access for individuals with disabilities in various public locations, ensuring that infrastructure and facilities align with inclusive standards. This effort supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 10 (SDG 10): Reducing Inequalities, reinforcing ISBR\u2019s mission to drive impactful social change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our accessibility audits focus on several crucial aspects, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ease of Entry and Exit:<\/strong> Ensuring buildings have ramps, elevators, and wide entryways to accommodate wheelchair users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Accessible Restrooms:<\/strong> Evaluating whether restrooms are equipped with grab bars, adequate space, and other necessary features.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Signage and Navigation:<\/strong> Assessing the availability of braille signs, auditory signals, and clear directional signage to assist individuals with visual or hearing impairments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Public Transport Accessibility:<\/strong> Reviewing bus stops and metro stations to determine if they cater to people with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
A Collaborative Effort for an Inclusive Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
We are delighted to share that over 50 locations have already been assessed through this initiative, with many more to follow. Every Thursday, our students actively participate in these audits, engaging with real-world challenges to foster a more equitable environment. This hands-on approach raises awareness and contributes to lasting improvements in public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This campaign would not be possible without the leadership of Dr. Veena Shenoy and Mr. Pughal<\/strong>, whose dedication has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prerna and Srinivasan from APD<\/strong> for their invaluable support and expertise in guiding us through these accessibility assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

One of the most remarkable aspects of the \u2018Yes to Access\u2019 campaign is the enthusiastic participation of ISBR students. By taking part in accessibility audits, students gain hands-on experience in understanding inclusivity challenges, strengthening their sense of social responsibility. This initiative provides them with a platform to advocate for change, influence policy discussions, and contribute to the betterment of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u2018Yes to Access\u2019 campaign not only highlights ISBR\u2019s commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity but also serves as an inspiration for other institutions, businesses, and policymakers to take proactive steps in making accessibility a universal right rather than a privilege.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
