One among them is the waste that gets generated. As one\u2019s standard of\u00a0 living moves upward it throws down waste beyond ones capacity to manage. Rapid unchecked growth has given way to growing piles of waste. Today Bangalore\u00a0 the Garden City\u00a0 of yesterdays and the Silicon City till date is headed to become the Garbage City of India. Well, this calls for a serious thought by one and all. Let us all join together and stop this menace.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2149\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isbr.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/image.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1148\" height=\"416\" \/><em>As the Civic Bodies are battling every day with delegations being sent to nations\u00a0 like Singapore to study their\u00a0 Waste Management Techniques has just\u00a0 brought public flak on themselves. It\u2019s time, every citizen take it one ourselves to address this challenge.\u00a0 This is possible by abiding by<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>REDUCE. RE-USE . RECYCYLCE-\u00a0\u00a0 WASTE<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Before we could think\u00a0 of Reuse and Recycle , we should attempt at <strong>Reducing Waste.<\/strong> We need to minimize generating waste. Many of us just go on a buying spree at times even though we may not need them. Women especially seem to be shopaholic and men of late following their footsteps. With\u00a0 one\u2019s purse getting fatter there is a tendency to buy things\u00a0 even when one does not need it.\u00a0 Hence once a new one lands at home the earlier one becomes redundant and turns out to be a junk !\u00a0 when this junk accumulates it\u00a0 leads to what we call as garbage. Be it empty plastic bottles, cartons, packs, furniture, electronic goods, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Many a social organization is trying to drive home this message of late- NO BUY MONTH.\u00a0 We dedicate a month where we pledge not to go out for shopping for unwanted things.#NoBuy, # DeClutterDecember.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To drive home this message among the youth of today, we the CSR Group at ISBR \u2013 B School had an event on 18 November to create an Social Awareness on Waste\u00a0 and also on other Social Evils of the society.\u00a0 The students\u00a0 came up with many an innovative creation from waste given to them to Recycle.<\/p>\n<p>The Event was in to parts-<\/p>\n<p>Part I- Waste to Wow! Here we saw some great creations made from waste which can find a place in our living rooms as decorate and useful items. Waste -Cartons, Plastics Bottles &amp;\u00a0 Newspapers were put to a more innovative use. Prizes were given away for the best works.<\/p>\n<p>Part II was a Cultural Program of Skits in the form of Street Plays to drive home the message on Social\u00a0 Evils \u2013 Dowry, Child Marriage, Drug Addiction, Domestic\u00a0 Violence etc.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Guest for this unique\u00a0 event was from SweepSmart\u00a0 a\u00a0 Dutch government NGO which is trying to provide technology and know-how to our Indian counterpart for efficient management of WASTE.\u00a0 Thereby creating Wealth from Waste by a recycling process.<\/p>\n<p>Other related campaigns in the College \u2013 On Food Wastage<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2151\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isbr.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/waste-food-image.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1632\" height=\"1125\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0An initiative by Shiva Prakash,\u00a0 a Visiting Faculty at ISBR and an independent \u00a0Brand Consultant who is socially driven.<\/em><em style=\"font-weight: 300;\">\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Waste \u2013 an environmental \u00a0hazard With civilization comes the various\u00a0 nuisances.
