The visit was a critical component of legal education, designed to provide students with practical exposure to <strong>Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objectives: Understanding Amicable Dispute Resolution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary goals of the program were to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Familiarise students with the <strong>structure, purpose, and functioning of Lok Adalat<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Observe live proceedings to understand how disputes are resolved through <strong>conciliation and compromise<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyse the contribution of Lok Adalat in <strong>reducing the backlog of cases<\/strong> in regular courts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect classroom learning on ADR and procedural law with real-world dispute resolution practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proceedings at the High Court<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students assembled at the High Court of Karnataka and were guided to the Reception Hall on the Ground Floor, where Lok Adalat proceedings were being conducted in Courts CH-24 to CH-32<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sessions were overseen by judicial officers, who were assisted by conciliators and advocates. The atmosphere emphasised <strong>compromise and mutual agreement<\/strong> rather than adversarial litigation, reflecting the core purpose of Lok Adalat under the <strong>Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students observed the amicable settlement of disputes across various categories, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT)<\/strong> settlements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Matrimonial and family disputes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Negotiable Instruments Act<\/strong> (cheque dishonour) matters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Civil disputes like partition suits and property cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students gained practical exposure to the functioning of Lok Adalat in a high court setting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They observed how amicable settlements save parties significant time and litigation costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The session highlighted the crucial role of Lok Adalat in easing judicial backlog and promoting efficient <strong>access to justice<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The overall experience greatly enriched their understanding of <strong>ADR mechanisms<\/strong> and their practical
