Visit to Akshaya Patra

ISBR MBA Students of 2016-18 batch were taken to visit   Akshayapatra Foundation at ISCON Temple on 25th of July, 2016.

“ Unlimited food for education” is the idea behind the Akshay Patra. Akshayapatra Foundation is serving 90,000 kids all over Karnataka studying in govt. schools with Mid Day Meal, thus ensuring the better health and inspiring the kids towards a better future of the Nation.

Students visited the Akshayapatra Foundation’s food factory using all protective measures. They covered their heads and wore protective footwear to maintain hygiene. To the Knowledge of Students, they came to know how 12000 litres of sambhar and 6 tons of rice is prepared daily to serve 90,000 students of Karnataka govt. schools, along with the sterilisation of vessels containing food, delivery process, and completion of the work daily by 09:30 am to start the distribution of food to all govt. registered schools. As per saying of M. Gandhi, “Do as you want others to do unto you”, students not only visited the factory and learnt about its functioning, but also had the same food for lunch.

Being students themselves, and being the future rulers, MBA Students of ISBR witnessed a process that builds kid’s heath, increase school attendance/ enrolement and thus shape them towards a better future.

In short, a visit to Akshayapatra introduced to the beginning of learning for these going to be leaders.

A visit to Enable India

ISBR’s MBA 2016 students visited Enable India, a charitable trust who works toward empowering people with disability, on 21 July 2016.

Dr Sujata and Mr Vishnu gave an introductory talk about “Enable India”. After that students were taken to the training area where they saw disabled people getting trained for better opportunities. While explaining the functioning of Enable India, Dr Sujata told students about how they analyze the job opportunities and find a solution to the problems faced by these special people so that they work with ease even after being different from us.

Mr Vishnu, an engineer took students to the virtual tour of history of Enable India and the awards won by its founder Mrs Shanti Raghvan and Mr Dipesh Sutariya and their struggle during the initial days. Students also learnt sign language to communicate with these people.

Mr Dipesh, the co founder also spoke to students about his journey. He even answered student’s queries and encouraged them.

It was a huge motivational tour for students in nut shell.

Visit to Art Of Living Ashram, Bangalore

Art Of Living Ashram visit On 21st July 2016, ISBR’s MBA students(2016- 18) visited Art Of Living (AOL) Ashram at Bangalore, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as part of their orientation program. Students were first escorted to Vishalakshi Mandal where they were told how focus and relaxation are interlinked. Ms Upasana, an instructor from AOL involved students in various activities as well as guided students for yoga and meditation. She asked students to take a step towards healthy living to energize life force energy.

Students received Prasad ( satvik lunch) at Annapoorna Bhojanalaya, where employees as well as visitors have lunch together. The good thing was that students and everyone cleaned their own plates.

In afternoon, at Panchakarma, students got to know about farming and its importance as well as the disadvantages of using plastics. They also visited Goshala with 375 cows and 50 bulls.

At the end, Students were also taken to Sri Sri Science Ayurvedic Hospital founded in the memory of Guruji’s father Sri Rathanam where treatment is done at nominal cost.

Its been a great learning experience for students as they look forward to start their professional journey.

MBA 2016 Batch Inauguration on 16 July 2016

ISBR Business School welcomed its MBA 2016 batch students and their parents on 16 july 2016 at Electronic City, Bangalore campus. Sri Kishore Alva, Vice President, Bangalore Chamber of Industry & Commerce and Joint President, ADANI Group graced the occasion as chief guest. Guests of Honour were Sri. Naveen Raju, Hon. Consul for Cote D’Ivoire, West Africa and Sri Prashanth Sreenivasan, Global Competency Head, Tech Mahindra. The other guests included Sri. Bhawesh, Joint Secretary, ELCIA, Smt. Suja Warrier, a social leader, Infosys and ISBR’s  alumni Mr.Kanhaialal Sharma, HR, Genpact.

Chief Guest, Sri Kishore Alva inaugurated the MBA Batch 2016-18 and declared the new session open. Guest of Honor, Sri.Naveen Raju released the Academic Diary for the batch 2016-18.

Corporate Guests and academicians inspired and encouraged students to learn and participate in all activities to know their strength.

Alumni Mr.Kanhaialal Sharma handed over the flag of camaraderie to the students of New Batch MBA 2016 – 18. The flag symbolizes mutual trust, commitment and above all team work.

Dr. Chandra Niranjan, Dean – Academics , felicitated  the professors and introduced them.

Alumni Reunion 2016

ISBR organised the alumni reunion on 3rd July 2016, at Lemon Tree Hotel, Electronic City, Bangalore. The event saw the vibrant bunch of alumni who were dressed up for the retro night. It was a moment of nostalgia where there were people flocking around with energy and enthusiasm.

The teachers, staff and the management team raised a toast to honour all the alumni from the year 20007 to 2016. There was fun and frolic in the air and the bash concluded with a resounding dance floor, wherein everybody shook their leg.


ISBR Annual Convocation 2016

ISBR Business School organised Convocation 2016 on 3rd July 2016 at ISBR Business School, Electronic City campus.  The guests of honor were Dr Rajeev Gowda, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Shri R Shivakumar, Chairman ASSOCHAM and Sri Ravi Gururaj, Chairman NASSCOM Product Council.

In his inaugural address, Dr Rajeev Gowda emphasised on the need for management schools to develop and nurture talent in young people to become more energetic, dynamic and result oriented. “The world has become flat. The young minds are very much instrumental for the upliftment of the society. Plethora of opportunities is available within the country”, he said.

Sri Ravi Gururaj received the Eminence Award for his outstanding contribution in creating right ecosystem for entrepreneurship development of higher order, through NASSCOM support projects for Start-ups in India.   In his acceptance speech, he said,”Students should get attached to the institutions and faculty should feel college as second home.”

Dr Devika Gunasheela who received Award of Eminence for her contribution to health care for women and children, asked students to focus more on doing social activities  for the good of the society.

Sri Sunil Rao, Country Head, Google, advocated students to make right choice at the beginning of the career. He asked students to be empathetic, understanding own strengths and to work on multiple projects to get maximum exposure across various departments within organisation.  Hard work was the answer for success in career, he said.

195 students graduated from the institute and received their convocation certificate. Twenty Industry patrons like Google, Volvo, GE Industrial Solutions, Fidelity National Financials, Kotak Mahindra, TUV Rhienland and Decathlon  graced the occasion.

Gems of ISBR, a dossier of success stories of alumni of ISBR were released by Mr Shivakumar. Sixteen Gems awardees received the certificates.

Senior Director, DR Anandram administered the oath to graduating students. Mr Manish Kothari, Managing Director ISBR, declared the convocation was dedicated to the cause of giving. He acknowledged that in giving, there was  joy of accomplishment.

As a CSR activity, Rajasthan Cosmo Club donated 3000 uniforms through ISBR and ELICIA to government schools on this occasion.

Dean ISBR, Dr C Manohar, presented the achievement of the ISBR and shared the saga of fulfilment and the journey of the accomplishment.

Industrial Visit- Happiest Mind

  Industrial visit was carried out at HAPPIEST MIND on 10TH May 2016 especially for Dream Catchers Mentor group. The main objective behind the visit was to make student aware about how various activities related to Business management are carried out in company and give them feel of managers as soon as they start their career. As soon as we reached company we were greeted by Ms Viji Amritha, Talent Development team (Happiest Mind) who took us to seminar hall, where a orientation of company was given by Ms Sharon Andrew, Head Talent Development team. She explains how company follows simple Philosophy – happiest people make happiest customers. After her motivating session Mr. Gaurav Soni, HR Head (Happiest Mind) explain students about various career opportunity in IT Industries. Visit was very informative and gave good learning experience.

Industrial Visit to Schneider Electric

As part of the Mentorship program, the students of the second semester PGDM and MBA – Team Kryptonites and Team Crew In Action were taken to the company of their choice on 10th May, 2016.

The group visited Schneider Electric, a unit that assembles Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), PLC panels, PCB Boards, Energy meters and Relays. They were taken to the shop floor and explained the assembly process, quality control methods ,supply chain details, quantity produced per month, turnaround time for every order, the numeric and bio-metric security systems, technology used, inventory management system,  strict rules followed for the production process and safety measures. What impressed the students was the open culture of inviting one idea per person per year with incentive and reward system, irrespective of their educational background.

Students were also impressed with the way the organization functioned, the hierarchy followed to meet targets and the discipline.

The HR executive gave the students details on the various functions of HR in the company and how HR was involved in strategizing the sales. She also explained students the scope of Management students in the company, skills and aptitude required and the hiring process. The Finance executive gave details about the financial modeling, cost plus markup, R&D, catering to the B2B segment, their competitors and challenges faced and their market share in the domestic and International Market.

There was no dearth of questions from the students.

It was a great learning experience for the students.
